CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY
The CranioSacral System includes the brain, spinal cord, cranial bones, spine + sacrum and the nervous system. By encouraging the nervous system to drop into a parasympathetic state (rest and digest) deep healing can take place. CST is a complementary method of hands-on bodywork that works with the natural and unique rhythms of the different body systems to pinpoint and address problem sources. Craniosacral Therapy can be done on a table or integrated within other bodywork. Katie practices on a table, and sometimes a thick, comfortable mat on the floor and for total ease the client remains fully clothed as this practice does not contain oils or creams.

ABDOMINAL THERAPY
The brain and the stomach are intimately connected as age-old sayings like "gut-wrenching feeling" tell us. The gastrointestinal tract is sensitive to emotion — anger, anxiety, sadness, elation — all of these feelings (and others) can trigger symptoms in the gut. A person's stomach or intestinal distress can be the cause or the product of anxiety, stress, or depression. Thai-based abdominal massage works through the layers of tension in the belly and surrounding structures releasing muscle tightness, stagnant emotion, encouraging healthy bowel function and lymph drainage. This work is indicated for anyone with a belly, birth, abortion, IUD trauma, PMS, PMDD, PCOS, Endometriosis & infertility.

THAI HERBALISM
Hand-crushed organic herbs are steamed and applied to the muscles in a hand wrapped organic cotton compress to open up the layers, release tension quickly and soften the tissues. The aromatic medicinal herbs are transformed into the subtle medium of steam, opening up the pores and delivering the therapeutic benefit of the herbs into your entire body. The herbs are wonderful for general health, pain relief, cleansing of the skin, soft tissue injuries, detoxification, melting away knots and tension, fatigue, headaches, colds, respiratory complaints, emotional distress, and deep ailment. Compresses are used during abdominal therapy sessions and are available to take home and use for cramps + soreness.

SCRAPING
Scraping is a removal form of healing — a sweeping of the area to remove heat and toxic stagnation. Scraping is most effective at relieving pain, tension, anger, frustration and trauma. The pressure is very soft and not at all painful — it is more like a flicking movement with a soft edged ceramic soup spoon. The repetitive movement at a medium pressure brings stagnant blood and any cellular debris being stored in the fascia to the surface where it can be flushed out with proper hydration and after-care. The minor "wound" then alerts the nervous system to send healing immune cells to repair the now softened and open area to restore the muscle back to its proper function.

CUPPING
Fire Cupping is an ancient practice that is in essence like trigger point work. Cups are suctioned to the body using heat and lift the layers of the muscles off of one another draining the area, allowing space between the tissues, increasing circulation and thereby nourishing muscles and areas below. The increase of space between tissues, flow of nourishing fluid to the area and release of toxic build-up significantly decreases pain, increases range of motion and flexibility, as well as promoting better nerve communication to areas of tightness. Cups are placed after massage and can be moved along the areas of tightness or left for a period of time to allow for deep therapy.
